not quite sure start, i'll start here. i have joomla installation (3.3.6), along civicrm (v4.5.5). running fine until realized 1 of menu entries pointing wrong civicrm option. when went change menu entry, joomla 'crashed'. display page non-gui/ascii form version of menu edit page, there no buttons, no tabs, no menus, no color, nothing. tried turning on php debug, that's missing display. looked @ page source, , can tell, everything's there should be, doesn't display page properly. i'm not sure if joomla or civicrm problem. problem occurs during following sequence: go menu manager > main menu click on new menu enter menu title: 'test" click on 'menu item type' select button scroll down civicrm, select 'profile view page' as you've click on option, page crashes. i did startup firebug, shows ""referenceerror: joomla not defined" far haven't been able figure out why thinks that. not civicrm menu options crash,

i have page design using running head text variable placed on left , right side of page. accomodate running heads long fit 1 line, running head flow many lines needed. but, running head text variable squeezes on 1 line. there anyway allow multi-lines situation? or type of text variable use? variables single character id's point of view, can't break. way make work divide text multiple parts have character styles applied , use multiple variables. that's not likley to work smoothly unless can through nested style -- style 1 through x characters, style 2 through next y characters, , forth, , still risk having line start space. i'm using imac cs6. have external maxtor 1tb drive 13 months old. have had no issues @ until today, when attempted access  psd file drive , received error message telling me document not valid photoshop file. looked @ directory @ point , noticed preview icons many of photoshop , jpg files on drive disabled. in each of these cases, files not open. i have: 1. repaired permissions , volumes on external drive. 2. changed file extension , attempted open. 3. opened file in hex editor , looked lines of code, or text, or whatever. 4. copied file different drive. 5. attempted open in different program (preview, illustrator)   in no cases files open, , i'm stumped. drive seems working fine. not every file affected, , files affected both in variety of locations on drive , created on period of years. ideas how resolve issue sincerely appreciated. sounds drive failing. bad sectors maybe. have backup?   looks did should have done immediately. disk repair recover files.   just hope have not

hey guys, i've got fancy new servers, , came 10.04. upgraded 10.10 , still worked. upgraded 11.04 , terminal, no gui login screen. googled around, , looks lots of nvidia users had same problem. tried of proposed solutions (e.g., pass nomodeset kernel), nothing works. dug bit deeper, , seems x not launching. i've pasted log below.
