hello everyone, i'm using ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) on lenovo thinkpad edge 13. (the hardware works out of box except wireless, needed driver realtek website module name "r8192ce_pci". seemed iffy @ first works fine.) works fine except after time, watching movies, perhaps after half hour, system slows down considerably. programs start slowly; video stutters; mplayer tells me system slow (-vo xv). way found fix reboot. strange cpu load normal, i.e. low. whatever slowing down system doesn't show in "top". have idea cause of this? suspect wireless drivers or intel integrated graphics. hey all, first post here (i'm pretty new posting on forums in general too) apologies if confusing or anything. i'm looking budget video card play nicely ubuntu use gaming. specs: 2.2ghz amd dual core proc 2 gbs ddr2 ram (planning upgrade 4 soon) onboard geforce 6150le video card onboard video hasn't been problem before, since play older games. (maybe if new card can handle it, i'll play newer games) recently, bought 24" monitor play on, not realizing onboard card/driver has rendering issues (even outside of games) when try change resolution recommended 1920x1080. so, i'd new graphics card, i'm nervous i'll 1 won't work open source drivers, or won't go recommended resolution, , i'm on poor college student's budget. recommendations? in advance, jtirr i forgot say, i'm using ubuntu 11.04. go earlier version, i'd rather not. ...

hi, installed compiz & emerald on xubuntu. window handling in settings menu gone ok think because compiz , emerald handling it.. main problem is; when right click window buttons on panel , open properties; "show windows workspaces or viewports" setting unchecked.. still doesn't obey setting. know reason ?.. help? idea? cheers. i think compiz creates own set of viewports on top of xfce ones. try middle-clicking desktop. show many desktops using when xfce managing windows, switching between them won't work expected. can use compiz features "scale" or "shift switcher" switch between windows in variety of different ways - 1 of them might suit you. note: search compiz-config-settings-manager in software center install gui config program. hi, in photoshop extended (cs6), when set custom measurement scale , save/close file, scale information not retained after file reopenend. have experimented both .psd , .tif files. used able in cs3 without trouble! as far can tell it's working in photoshop cs6 13.01.1 on windows 8 x 64 system both tif , psd files.   what operating system , version of photoshop cs6 using?   have applied latest updates within photoshop cs6: help>updates?
