Fails to go past step 1 of installer - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi,

i have been uploading joomla many years no real problems. there posts on subject no real answers. have upload joomla via dialup expensive , takes 3 hours. however, problem cannot past step 1 of installation process. have removed index.php temporarily prevent gaining access installer page while try , sort out.

i have been working on 10 days , frustrating. should delete lot (again!!) , fresh install of older version?

what error message when fails ?
have tried uploading zip , unpacking on server ?
is database (you created) populated ?

you use configuration.php file 1 of other joomla sites , edit match database.
