Do you deploy courseware to a LMS? (exit the course - revisited)

hello all,

 

for time there have been grumbling developers having difficulty building working exit button or experiencing non-functional close button on playbar. i've been in situation myself so, hope can others. end, building matrix works , on lms's exit script works on.

 

i think have determined exit scripts , playbar close work consistently when captivate course opened in child window (i.e. pop-up or separate window launch page).

 

note: problem appears manifest when preferences/quiz/reporting (for aicc/scorm) enabled.

 

 

can please add insight:

 

1. how handle closing course?  
   a) enable playbar's close button?
   b) disable playbar , use own custom navigation (what do)?
   c) instruct learner close course closing browser window?
   d) other?
   
   
2. what lms's have had success or failure with?
   
   
3. if employ custom exit button, script use?
   
   examples:
   window.open('', '_self', '');
   window.close();
   
   top.window.close(); - script works consistently when captivate course opens in child window
   
   history.back(-x) - use script when captivate course opens in parent (launch) window. results in taking learner launch page. "x" equivalent number of browser "back clicks".
   
   
4. in browsers have experienced inconsistencies? in other words, if exit button worked in 1 browser not another.
   
   
5. have experienced difficulties when exiting , marking course complete?

currently, publishing course successfactors lms. exit button not appear work @ least not first time. currently, using out of box captivate 6.0 functionality.

 

currently, trying resume message appear when go course. currently, course restarts left off no option start over.
