research on weeks , have been able mount 1 drive with:

sudo mount -t ufs -o ro,ufstype=ufs /dev/sdg /media/movies

small relief due media have on there
if try mount 500gb drive
both disappear , have reboot access.
hate post , have utilized search option cannot find permanent solution. have raed of issues large drives , gpt if can mount each drive separately kind of think issue e-z dock.(which told manage 2tb.
reaching option might have keep things , wait until have completed server build , transfer files old drives new server , format reuse.

edit: nevermind
think have found answer or close in thread

the backup backs freenas configuration file, can move freenas machine, reload backup configuration file , , running of defined shares, etc. works quite well. far data backup, run risks. freenas uses different partitioning scheme , different file system ubuntu.

freenas not designed upgrading. it's current, stable version 7.2 , version 8 complete rewrite many features still not working. if installed 7.2 many years. if moving freenas (which excellent nas) full-fledged server (such ubuntu server), there no simple way (that know of) move data without having 4 tb nas hold data, build new server, migrate nas-held data server. other solution justs puts data @ risk.

think asking: "can overwrite freenas ubuntu server , keep 3 tb of data?"

no.

when built freenas server, committed solution.

why interested in converting freenas on ubuntu server?
