Thread: Trouble locking package for patched kernel

i'm using patched version of 2.6.38-11 kernel under natty in order deal a bug in vgaswitcheroo. while patched version works, every time software update (apt-get update && apt-get upgrade) asked re-install channel version of kernel packages, since apparently higher version patched version.

have tried locking version of these packages in synaptic, doesn't appear stop apt attempting upgrade them anyways.

far workaround normal upgrade , reinstall patched kernel packages.

there proper way this?
if helps, patched kernel version 2.6.38-11.48~lp727620v201108261554, while channel version 2.6.38-11.48

for whatever reason, locking version in synaptic doesn't lock using apt-get, , vice versa. assume applies kernel well.

i've never understood why continues operate way, or if misunderstand, testing, have both (lock in synaptic, hold in apt command line ops).

2.5.28 to 3.4.1---Download of update package failed - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

went 2.3* whatever 2.5.28 same message.. had install via extension manager: install.. seemed work fine.. updated extensions , db.. tried run install again joomla! update module , download of update package failed message.. tried install extension manager: install. again , nothing.. don't seem have jommla_update.php file on server.. using godaddy plesk.. fun installed 3.4.1 on server using godaddy applications , worked fine.. i have seen server might out of space.. not issue here. permissions set correctly can tell. i new take easy on me.. any ideas? viewtopic.php?f=621&t=582860 Board index Joomla! 3.x - Ask Support Questions Here Migrating and Upgrading to Joomla! 3.x

hi i trying upgrade joomla 2.5.27 3.6. have checked requirements (i've upgraded site), purged cache , gone short term support, when click save & close told (as before) have latest joomla version - not offer me joomla 3.6 (or else). have suggestions please? thank you c you can download joomla 3.x update , install manually using joomla's extension installer. don't forget create backup before doing that.
