Thread: Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init


hi,

working in ubuntu 10.04 lts.
due bad command file system has corrupted.

getting screen while booting as...

target filesystems doesn't have /sbin/init
run-init: /etc/init: permission denied
[ 1.356276] kernel panic - not syncing attempted kill init!

tried use usb drive ubuntu version 10.10 marv live cd.
followed commands...

>fdisk -l
>sudo e2fsck -f -y -v /dev/sda5

/dev/sda5 device file linux partition in system.

doesn't solve purpose.

plz me should do?

have run command upgrade grub2 as...

>sudo mount /dev/sda5 /mnt
>sudo grub_install --root-directory=/mnt /dev/sda

reboot system

me how can recover ubuntu 10.04?

please post results of boot info script can better idea of happening.
