Thread: 60GB SSD, 8GB RAM, do I need "AT LEAST" 8GB Swap??

i have notebook 8gb ram & 120gb ssd. need equal 8gb of swap partition? can't afford allocate 16gb of ssd space.

notebook dual-booting windows. plan 70gb windows (1 partition including data), , remaining ubuntu including swap, i'm not sure how use swap.

read in documentation ssds still need swap.

suggestions?

edit: ssd 120gb (not 60gb) stated on subject. corrected.

legacy idea of double size kind of redundant these days.

same size + 1 if suspend ram.

can away less, depends on resource intensity of apps. such multimedia , image manipulation etc.

2 or 4gb should fine unless of course use large apps or suspend ram issue
