Thread: Can't change permissions from root!

hi all,

weirdest problem , seemed happen. have done searching nothing seems work.

went save file directory on 1 of partitions , wouldn't let me. open nautilus root, right click partition , check permissions, owner 'root'. try change root user name , refuses. goes default 'root'. can't change though i'm logged nautilus root!

can access files okay, read them, etc. occurring on ntfs partitions looks turns out , have heap (desktop box 4 3 drives).

haven't changed fstab or else can remember. , ideas appreciated need work on box pronto , don't have lot of time fix it. eek.

cheers.

what have got in fstab file, can post?

ntfs not support linux permission settings reason couldn't change via nautilus. way (without rebooting box) un-mount , re-mount drive creds want use.
