Postage calculations - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i manage lallans.co.uk scots language society [sls] registered charity. market cds , have 140 different titles. bought online , posted. majority single cds, there number of 2 , 3 cd sets. insane reason, sls insists on sending them in separate 'jewel cases', not slimlines. scots everywhere therefore discs posted worldwide. payment made via paypal. have 2 problems; 1 paypal problem , 2 joomla problem.

problem 1 how can correct postage calculated? variables are; 1, 2 or 3 cds [more, , buyers instructed email] , 1 of 4 possible royal mail postal destination rates: uk, europe, zone 1 , zone 2

there seems no way using paypal apply universal postage calculation final checkout bill using above different postage options - 1, 2 or 3 discs 1 of 4 possible destinations. provision paypal makes postage inadequate , 1 size fits 'solution'. either fixed amount or percentage calculation added total of goods bought. if set suit uk postage, far low overseas; if set overseas far high uk customers. there way of selecting appropriate postage involve editing each , every individual cd's 'buying' button - 140 of them! , doing again every time postage increased! right game of soldiers, , know that.

problem 2 told sls price of cds unlikely increase. each cd paypal buying button can set degree of confidence not have changed. there way, or extension! make calculation within joomla before paying through paypal? thinking of creating html module calculate postage - or, more precise, 3 modules; 1 single cds, 2 cds , third 3 cds. example, paypal 'buy' buttons 'know' how many discs there [because i've told them!] weight , size of package known. not known destination. buyer, canada, therefore have select correct postage option before adding total amount discs. how can addition made?

in nut-shell, required method whereby sls can confident buyer has paid right amount while knowing has been bought , go.

any help, advice appreciated!

not solution work-around.

i disabled paypal's automatic postage calculations. (the website in question has back-issues of magazine sale - each own wretched paypal button! rest of concerns cds, similar work-around magazines.)

i created 3 new paypal 'add cart' buttons; 1 buying 1 cd, 1 buying 2 cd set , 1 buying 3 cd set. each has drop-down choice 4 royal mail postage rates; uk, europe, zone 1 , zone 2.

in future, need editing when postage increases 3 new add cart instructions. (the way society sends cds, cost @ present of sending 1 or 2 discs in fact same, created separate buttons in case future postage costs change that. wanted done now!)

the tedious task adding new paypal 'add cart' postage buttons each page items ordered - 200 pages in all!

carrrrramba can say.

so customer finds cd want , clicks 'add cart' button. each page tells customer postage , select correct amount drop-down options i.e. uk, europe, zone 1 or zone 2 , 'add cart'. hit check-out, wham, bam, thank ma'am.

what can possibly go wrong?
