Thread: LiveCD Demo fails using NVIDIA GeForce 6200 GPU


livecd demo ubuntu 10.04 lts runs ubuntu splash screen, dumps white background densely spaced multicolor vertical lines. searches indicate problem evga nvidia 6200 gpu's proprietary drivers. downloaded 3 possible drivers, save cd well. have no idea how interrupt demo try drivers. i've used "hit key" during splash screen graphic interface, f1-f6 options. no configuration helps. multiple forum , google searches have proved fruitless. has run 10.04 lts demo nvidia geforce 6200?

(a) livecd integrity good, , demos on friends new laptop using nouveau drivers
(b) pc should adequate, although dinosaur:

(c) unless there's reason, i'm reluctant try install if can't screen on demo.

put in disk, boot, select try ubuntu, wait bit, press ctrl+alt+f1-f6 , should see line

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
stop gnome. install drivers per instruction on nvidias page instead of rebootin type
code:
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
you can replace sudo /etc/init.d/gdm
code:
sudo service gdm
if wish. prefer earlier.
