Thread: ubuntu 10.04 unable to boot

hi, while trying upgrade newer version of gimp using debian sid, synaptic got messed , libpango1 package broke. fix it, tried removing it, removed mountall , plymouth. foolishly, of course rebooted, , system won't boot.... text boot error messages refer filesystems being read-only, , hangs. recovery mode doesn't seem function either. there way me packages re-installed using recovery/live cd?

last error messages are:
init: plymouth-stop pre-start process (1030) terminated status 2
init: unable connect system bus: failed connect socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: no such file or directory
init: ureadahead main process (386) killed abrt signal

getting system running again appreciated....

i have been able access filesystem using 10.04 livecd. there way me copy/install mountall , plymouth filesystem of broken machine? files need copy where? appreciated!
