Upgrade issues - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

not sure if best place suggest this.

over last year have assisted number of users have had joomla site crash after failed upgrade. in every case cause has been 1 or more third party extensions have caused issue. in cases simple job disable problematic extension via db, in other cases involves deleting files etc. not fault of joomla, of poorly coded extensions.

i have number of ideas (some may implemented, maybe not) mitigate in future.

first see failsafe mode added joomla, 1 stops loading of essential core extensions. way db fixes , faulty extensions can uninstalled end.

alternatively, how adding requirement extensions submitted jed have set of version compatibility strings added. before upgrade, joomla check version strings , inform user of potentially incompatible extensions. simple warning users @ least check before updating remove incompatible extensions before killing site.
