Thread: Big uh-oh moment with dueling hard drives
relevant components:
crucial ct064m4ssd2 m4 2.5" solid state drive - 64gb, sata 6gb/s
western digital caviar black wd5002aalx 500gb 7200 rpm 32mb cache sata 6.0gb/s 3.5" internal hard drive -bare drive
situation:
set rig while ago , didn't buy windows right away. installed ubuntu initially. loaded ubuntu onto ssd , put of photos, music, etc, 100 gigs worth on western digital hddrive in meantime. got windows 7 , did clean install intention install ubuntu again duel boot system. after formatting ssd , installing windows 7, saw couldn't view hdd under computer folder, bummer, figured i'd boot ubuntu usb stick, , extract of data onto external drive, format , re-partition it, , load on. now, when trying mount , view hdd in ubuntu says don't have permission view contents.
want able extract data loaded onto hdd, don't know how permissions it. can me out?
other information:
hdd still detected in both ubuntu , windows, windows telling me of capacity free, , ubuntu can tell me under volumes type of hdd ext3 , partition on linux (0x83)
edit- viewing media/(hddrive), it's telling me has ~350 gigs of free space available, good, cause means data still there! need know how it. in either system nice.
in advance. love ubuntu , want running on computer again, want hdd issue solved first, if possible.
have tried running nautilus root? type sudo nautilus in terminal , should have permission anything.
