Safe Area set up.
is there way set safe area in aefx in different horiz , vert settings?
eg. 30% horiz , 10% vertical
currently have used 2 settings achieve this.
title safe 10% , centre cut title safe 30%
.. prefer single safe area rectangle on screen instead of two, workaround produces.
why aefx assume safe areas identical on h , v? hav never seen them specced way .
ae's safe areas broadcast spec, hardly uses safe areas more legal disclaimers. far know there's no way change template. create own guide layer.
i've been in television , film production more 40 years. broadcast spec been action safe 95% , title safe 90%. lcd , plasma displays don't overscan as crt's projectors don't overscan much. that's why folks strictly follow 90% rule legal disclaimers. lower third crawls extend safe action , beyond. i've never heard of spec didn't have equal values horizontal , vertical. ae's safe area template works both square , non square par's. looks wrong in non square uncorrected.
if talking safe action , safe title 4:3 broadcast of hd (widescreen) image bets off. i'm on cable network @ home uses different crops re-broadcasts of same program on different channels. mash cropped top , bottom on 1 network looks widesacreen , shown 4:3 on other black pillars. i've seen shown 4:3 scaled more there's black around picture. commercials on place on different channels. it's kind of mess.
ae safe action safe title:
guide layer created 2 masks , stroke. both 16x9
