if use akeeba backup (and backed before upgrading (?!) ) can use akeeba kickstart restore 2.5.27 site , try upgrade again.
the site structure , content stored in database, there no files can download produced on fly db.
you can export data, myphpadmin or similar tool through hosting control panel.
please take note of following: ensure have minimum requirements 3.3.6:
http://www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html (check hosting provider).
did review instructions; upgrade 2.5.27 3.3.x.
http://docs.joomla.org/j2.5:upgrading_f ... ng_version
try download full download package of 3.3.6, unzip package , upload files again, server overwriting files there. may restore site working order (be careful not overwrite config.php file, or if do, update correct database information afterwards)
another thing check file , folder permissions: chmod 644 folders, chmod 755 files.
the http 500 error indicates configuration issue on server (including above-mentioned file permissions) may best check hosting provider see can suggest.
i'd ask host check system requirements (point them joomla's requirements if necessary) , have them update if can). ask them check php error logs , php.ini settings.
