URL Rewrite, click link don't re-write for some reason - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i enabled url rewriting in joomla installation. if type in mywebsite.com/links , similar links render fine. however, if click url's still inside site follows mywebsite.com/index.php/links - how can make links follow website.com/links format?

i'm guessing either:
- turned on 1 of these options, not other: sef urls , url rewriting

they're right next each other, , both need on index.php out of urls.

- turned on both options, did not use htaccess.txt basis of .htaccess.

if don't have .htaccess file (most fresh sites, don't, should check because if host provided one, important) can copy/rename htaccess.txt, .htaccess.

if have .htaccess, can copy contents of .htaccess.txt .htaccess using notepad or such. (they're both plain-text files.)

2.5.28 to 3.4.1---Download of update package failed - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

went 2.3* whatever 2.5.28 same message.. had install via extension manager: install.. seemed work fine.. updated extensions , db.. tried run install again joomla! update module , download of update package failed message.. tried install extension manager: install. again , nothing.. don't seem have jommla_update.php file on server.. using godaddy plesk.. fun installed 3.4.1 on server using godaddy applications , worked fine.. i have seen server might out of space.. not issue here. permissions set correctly can tell. i new take easy on me.. any ideas? viewtopic.php?f=621&t=582860 Board index Joomla! 3.x - Ask Support Questions Here Migrating and Upgrading to Joomla! 3.x

hi all, searched , saw nothing related it. did quickinstall of joomla 3.3.6. when goto site location in browser error in subject. server specs below. wrong in assuming should ok , if know of fix. php: 5.4.32 could double check php version? create (eg phpinfo.php) file on server containing code: select all <?php phpinfo(); and open file in browser (via eg www.example.com/phpinfo.php ) ? for safety reasons remove file server after double checking.
