Thread: vim default editor in mc

i want use vim when hit f4 (view) in midnight commander can't seem work. keeps using nano

have export editor="vim" in bashrc file
vim in path
if use

code:

edit some.txt

this open in vim

have changed alternatives vim using

code:

sudo update-alternatives --config editor

and have disabled "edit in internal editor" , "view in internal editor" under options>configuration inside of mc , saved configuration.

i've started new terminals.

flaw can see when

code:

echo $editor

i blank line
