greetings.

i novice joomla world , suggestions / input on setting site ideas have in mind ( suggestions extensions, templates, etc )

1. user profiles
2. photo gallery ( sub-galleries - landscape --> mountains / landscape --> clouds )
3. banner rotation different sized banners.
4. rss feed news media.
5. [spam] , twitter showcase ( show recent posts both )

the site going used family / friends keep updated. keep blog update, news, videos [youtube] , maybe stuff keep site fun , exciting.

all suggestions welcome ( , maybe if have time - little guidance on how put together. can see - http://piratemountainnews.net - not close looking decent.

as new joomla, here's advice:

1- install wamp or xampp or lamp pending on os have on computer. install joomla in that.
that way can learn basics of joomla without harm.
2- install akeeba backup in joomla.
it isn't difficult, , backup vital.
3- users easy create , manage in joomla.
4- banner rotators find in jed.
5- photo galleries too.
6- spam can in supermarket, twitter can find extensions in jed.
7- blogging 1 of weaker points of joomla, can, once again, find plenty of extensions in jed. of paid, mind you.

templates can find online. go joomla.24.com, that's source free , commercial templates.

once you're happy site under construction, make backup akeeba. ftp backup , kickstart.php root of site online. type url http://www.my_site.com/kickstart.php , follow screens. that's have learned using wamp. site online in mere minutes.

2.5.28 to 3.4.1---Download of update package failed - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

went 2.3* whatever 2.5.28 same message.. had install via extension manager: install.. seemed work fine.. updated extensions , db.. tried run install again joomla! update module , download of update package failed message.. tried install extension manager: install. again , nothing.. don't seem have jommla_update.php file on server.. using godaddy plesk.. fun installed 3.4.1 on server using godaddy applications , worked fine.. i have seen server might out of space.. not issue here. permissions set correctly can tell. i new take easy on me.. any ideas? viewtopic.php?f=621&t=582860 Board index Joomla! 3.x - Ask Support Questions Here Migrating and Upgrading to Joomla! 3.x

hi all, searched , saw nothing related it. did quickinstall of joomla 3.3.6. when goto site location in browser error in subject. server specs below. wrong in assuming should ok , if know of fix. php: 5.4.32 could double check php version? create (eg phpinfo.php) file on server containing code: select all <?php phpinfo(); and open file in browser (via eg www.example.com/phpinfo.php ) ? for safety reasons remove file server after double checking.
