Thread: Can't delete my hard drive...

i'm trying clean hd have plugged in, want gone, including ubuntu.

problem i'm unable delete volume, gives me error message "the device busy". i'd willing settle reformatting "ntfs" can reinstall windows, gives me same error message "device busy".

when try unmount hd, gives me :

error unmounting: umount exited exit code 1: helper failed with:
umount: root can unmount /dev/sda1 /

so how go deleting hd, should place giant magnet on it?

you cannot when using ubuntu os .
use live cd , do:

code:
sudo umount -a sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda1 # be careful ,this delete everything!!!
can please post parttion scheme?
code:
sudo fdisk -l
so know right name of partitions
