so threw out incidental comment in thread restructuring plan open source matters. purely sake of argument, more think it, more i'd thoughts others, on question...
...why shouldn't open source matters donate joomla free software foundation, , merge-into body?
what effects on ... ? (with guess in parens)
- devs (none; gpl'd , moving forward; added prestige)
- plt (none; same above)
- for-profit dev shops (none; same above)
- support providers (ditto)
- upshot here: downside?
i think osm quite successful pitching emily-graslie-esque department of awesome fsf. keep of goals operating now, i.e. scooting around planet , net, glowing open source evangelism, , forth -- under stronger umbrella.
thoughts? has been suggested?

i think joomla has undergone changes recently, both @ executive level , @ technical level. i'm not sure joomla can afford yet change (regardless of impact) in near future.
